The Center for Progressive Reform announces a vacancy for an Economic Researcher in the Economics Department.

  1. INDICATIVE SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES

The Eonomic Researcher  will report to the Head of Economic Department and the Director of the Center for Progressive Reforms

The Economic Researcher will undertake the following duties:

  • Participation in economic policy formulation processes including interactions with key stakeholders such as government, academia, private sector, donors, civil society organizations
  • Defining and assessing the costs, benefits and risks associated with the economic policy options and interventions
  • Discovering the wider economic, trade, investment, social, and environmental impacts that may result from the policy interventions
  • Propose multiple policy design options with pros and cons that address stakeholder needs, economic considerations, practicality, and policy precedent
  • Conducting cost estimates on various policy design options in areas of economic development
  • Developing the criteria, standards and methodologies for impact assessment (IA) tools to assess the economic, social, and environmental impacts of economic policies
  • Conducting ex-ante and ex-post policy impact assessment and regulatory impact assessment
  • Conducting policy dialogue and high-level consultations with key government institutions
  • Applying suitable analytical tools in the analysis of policy interventions (e.g. cost-benefit analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis)
  • Conducting statistical and econometric analyses to discover trends and relationships, impacts
  • Support processes in economic policymaking: data collection and processing, policy analysis and policy formulation, policy adoption, implementation and evaluation
  • Track and analyze relevant government and policy documents, including regulation and other agency guidance, as well as academic and policy research to inform policymaking
  • Analysis of complex data and identifying the best methods for distilling and presenting the results
  • Coordinating tasks and activities of junior team members engaged in policy analyses and data collection
  • Identify strategic opportunities for advocacy with relevant stakeholders
  • Write and edit a variety of documents ranging from detailed reports and policy briefs to drafts of resolutions and legal documents
  • Performing other tasks and duties assigned or requested by management, team leaders, and project leaders.
  1. QUALIFICATIONS OF THE CANDIDATE
  • Higher education in economics, business, finance, macroeconomics, economics, policy analysis, public policy, and other relevant areas (at least Master’s Degrees);
  • More than 3 years of experience in economic research and policy analysis
  • Experience in conduction of quantitative research
  • Participation in the design of economic policies would be an asset;
  • Experience working in political affairs with international organizations or governments;
  • Experience in preparing analytical reports;
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills;
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex information using related technologies;
  • Experience in the conduction of quantitative research, use of management applications;
  • Participation in the design of economic policies would be an asset;
  • Required Languages: Excellent Uzbek and English;
  • Ability to effectively use information and communication technologies (ICT) and computer literacy/knowledge of MS Office package (Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
